what is a sump pump?
A sump pump is a submersible pump that is generally installed in the lowest point of your home. It works by pumping groundwater from under your basement floor, before it has the opportunity to rise into your basement or living space.
The pump redirects the water to the nearest storm drain, dry well, retention pond or a low lying area of your yard. When water enters the sump well, the pump is triggered on by a float switch and only activates when water reaches a predetermined level. By removing excess water, sump pumps prevent water from entering your home.

Sewage Pump Maintenance
Sewage Pump MaintenanceIf you are unfortunate enough to require a sewage pump to remove your waste water, there are a couple thing you should know. NEVER, EVER, flush objects down the toilet that could cause you problems. Wipes, tampons, dental floss are just a few items that should not be flushed along with excess kitchen grease and food scraps.
Maintaining your sewage pump annually, can double its useful lifetime to better than 10 years. Its a dirty job, but opening up the pit annually and cleaning the walls, pump and float devices insure that there is nothing for the float to get stuck on and will keep the pit from smelling “off”. Replacement of the check valve at this time is also beneficial.
This is again, a service you can perform yourself, but it is a dirty job.

I didn't have the opportunity to use Sump Pump Gurus for service, but I spoke with them today. I had an issue with my sump pump not turning on. The gentleman that I spoke with actually took the time to walk me through troubleshooting. We discovered after 10 minutes, that the cord was unplugged. I recently had a handyman doing work in the area, and he must have borrowed the outlet for his tools. Great service! I will definitely use when the time comes.

Thank you for the prompt response. My sump pump was running constantly with the water churning like a washing machine. I called in for help. Eric walked me through some troubleshooting and we determined the pump impeller was broken. They dispatched Bob and he took care of the problem quickly with a replacement. Very professional. Same day service! Highly recommend!

Once we determined that I needed a new pump, they had someone on the way. Bob came out, inspected everything, showed me that my pump was 15 years old and should have been changed out a while ago. He made short work of the new install, fastened the pipe to the rafters (it always shook) and completed the job in about 2 hours. Very impressed, no surprises and they made everything very easy. Thank you, it is great to work with a company that does what they say!

She went above and above to meet my needs, and my scheduling agent was polite and knowledgable. On the day of the service, I loved getting a text with a picture of my technician and directions for when to expect them. Paul was kind and sympathetic to my mother's concerns. Overall favourable; he quickly and reasonably resolved our problem. They will now be used by me to repair my pumping machinery.

Hands down Aron was the best technician I've ever dealt with give that man a raise. He came in with a positive attitude and after I told him what was going on he knew exactly where to go and what to look at. My unit being an older one he didn't try and sell me parts I didn't need. I've had people tell me I needed a whole new unit and Aron tested everything and found out only one part was causing the outside unit not to work. You can definitely tell he's been doing this for a while and loves what he does. From now on if I ever have any issues with anything related to sump pump then I know who to call and I'm going to request Aron.
